Debut Novel Out now
the last three wishes by
Lana clews
Behind the Iron Curtain, 25-year-old Svetlana finds herself pregnant, trapped in a loveless marriage, and longing for freedom. Spurred on by her dying father’s last three wishes, can she find a better life for herself and her child?
“My family watched a once independent, opinionated young girl who wore hot-pink jeans and rode around Lviv on a motorcycle become a quiet, distant, housewife. I lived in cycles. Daily routines, arguments, empty apologies—it was all a routine. My homeland, Ukraine, gained its independence, but I was slowly losing mine to a loveless marriage. The sadness in my father’s eyes deepened, and suddenly, I was twenty-five.”

About Lana
Lana Clews is a Ukrainian-American first-time author. She immigrated to the United States in 2001, but she’s been telling stories her whole life. Her creativity and expert writing abilities emboldened Clews as a young adult. Despite her authoritarian upbringing, she remained strong-willed and independently minded.
She hopes her novel will shed light on the many obstacles immigrants must overcome when moving to the United States: surviving abuse, single motherhood, finding inner strength, and the importance of family.
